Unknown Specimans Unique River Rocks Schoharie River Fossils/Minerals/Rocks/Gems/Crystals/Quartz/
Found along the Schoharie River.....Home of some of the oldest fossils in the world, here in the Catskill mountains. Feel free to research some of the fact surrounding Schoharie River/Creek and Reservoir, in upstate New York. A recent drought over the summer had uncovered the original town of Gilboa, which was flooded in order to create a reservoir to supply NYC with water. Fossilized trees, foundations and even the wall along the road was visible. Unique history!
Each box will contain one pound of unique River finds....Some specimens are common, some unknown. I try to educate myself on all of the different types of minerals in this area, but without a professional, it’s not easy (no, Google does not know very much). I have many black rock specimens, some magnetic, others not, some leave black streaks, some white. Plenty of minerals used to make arrow heads, which are commonly found along the creek.
There are fossils, Flint, Chert, Graphite, Limestone, and many more.
Sizes range from tiny (10mm to extra large (5”).
