This is a photo measuring 3 3/8 inches wide by 2 1/4 high, attached to a hand-made greeting card measuring 5 3/8 by 4 folded. What is known is what is stated on the inside by the sender: "The picture on the front shows the Allahabad Aerodrome and the destroyed engine of the 'Pander' aeroplane which entered the great Melbourne Air Race and was burnt here." Those known facts seem to mesh with further research that indicates the Pander participated in the 1934 London to Melbourne Air Race aka The MacRobertson Trophy Air Race. Allahabad was a mandatory stop. The Pander was destroyed in a ground collision. The photo is clear and in Good condition. The hand-made card is in Poor-Fair condition.
