Naturally Holey Beach Stone, Coquinoid Sandstone
Surf tumbled by the tides and time.
Wild caught by me along the shores of the Treasure Coast.
This stone is approximately 1 3/8" x 1 1/4" x 1/2" thick.
The hole easily accommodates the 20 gage wire.
It is a medium gray with a subtle circular area of golden tan around the hole.
That same coloration is a little more bold on the backside.
It is a very smooth stone, nicely rounded.
Nice substantial stone.
Fits well in your hand for clear vision through the hole.

Hag stones have occupied myth and magic folklore for centuries.

Hag stones are stones that have a
naturally occurring hole inside them. These stones are often
found along the coastal points, beaches, and streams. These
holes occur from the elements
beating down upon them over
many years.  There are also speculations that these mysterious
stones may have been formed by a “worm hole”. A Hag stone is
also known as a Witch Stone
or Adder Stone or Holey Stone
and has quite a bit of lore and many magical properties associated
with them.  Part of the folklore is that if you look through the holes
you can see fairies.
