One Naturally Holey Beach Stone, Coquinoid Sandstone
Surf-tumbled by the tides and time.
Collected by me along the shores of the Treasure Coast.
This tube shaped stone is 3 3/8 inches long,
7/8 inch wide,
and 7/8 inch tall.
The large hole is minimum 1/2" diameter.
All sizes are approximate.
That long, large hole is relatively straight.
Interior has some wormsnail tubes attached.
Interesting shape. All edges are smooth and rounded.
Very good specimen.
Nature is cool.
It would make a great gift.
Super fun to look through!
It is shades of grey with areas of golden tan and ivory.

Hag stones have occupied myth and magic folklore for

stones that have a naturally occurring hole inside them.
These stones are often
found along the coastal points,
beaches, and streams. These holes occur from the elements
beating down upon them over many years.  There are also
speculations that these mysterious
stones may have been
formed by a “worm hole”. A Hag stone is also known as a Witch
Stone
or Adder Stone or Holey Stone and has quite a bit of lore
and many magical properties associated
with them.  Part of the
folklore is that if you look through the holes you can see fairies.
