RARE Vintage 1893 Western Electric double rod telegraph Morse code key ham radio

Description

For auction is a vintage, dated 1893 Western Electric (W.U. T. Co.) double rod telegraph Morse code key on wood base. Item being sold as found and has not been cleaned, cleaning will be left to the winning bidder if they choose to do so. Item is from a smoke free home. Please see all pictures as they are part of this description. Item is in excellent condition with some wear/age. Item does function, but may need adjustment by the winning bidder to fit their sending style. No other testing was done. Please note pictures three and seven to view engraved markings regarding item's 1893 date and manufacturer (Western Electric), as well as company where item was used. (Western Union Telegraph Company) Please also note picture ten as item is positioned nice and level on more modern wood base. Item may be removed from wood base if the winning bidder chooses to do so. Item has all of it's matching and original metal knurled parts. Please utilize ZOOM when viewing picture nine to note this key's original metal "safety pin" style mechanism in place of a spring. Item's shorting lever does function and slides both ways correctly. Item was found with it's shorting lever knob and knob both present and original. This item has a very appealing look to it per the double rod style. These type of Morse code keys are not easy to find anymore, especially in nice original, functioning and complete condition. Item will make a great addition to your telegraph key collection and/or early, pre 1900s wireless equipment assortment. Only the vintage, dated 1893 Western Electric (W.U. T.
