    Description

    Simbircite  - pair , ID 1392, 34x23 mm
Simbercite or Simbircite from the Russian city of Simbirsk (now Ulyanovsk) is one of those jaw-dropping gemstones that leave everyone breathless. The first records of this mineral are dated back to 1765, but it received its current name only in 1985. They are beautiful, rich and understated, amber color, with shades of brown, white, red or green. It is an agatized material that fills in chambers of the Ammonite Lamberticeras sp. with a complex mix of iron & magnesium rich calcite (СаСО3), aragonite, pyrite, marl, chabazite and quartz. The veins of pyrite were originally the bone of the ammonite. Formed over 160 million years ago, Simbircite with pyrite is both a gemstone and fossil.
