Vintage Knipex Ear Clamp Pliers, post 1989-1990

Description

Knipex is known as the pliers specialist and their range of grippers and related tools is considerable. The German company was founded by Gustav Putsch in 1882 as a small smithy for pliers. The company employing only a journeyman and two apprentices grew a giant in gripping innovation and quality. After more than 135 years the company still produces high quality pliers in the area where it was founded.
This 1098 Ear Clamp Pliers is in good condition, attesting to the quality of original manufacturing. The tool was made in West German, meaning it was made before the Reunification occurred in 1989-1990. Even with thirty-plus years of service it is fully functional and attests to being used but not abused.
We did not clean the Tool other than what was necessary to be certain of the manufacturing information. The pivot moves smoothly and the jaws close well despite obvious heavy use. There are no cracks in the red, rubbery handles which also show no looseness.
